How Fetching ...

Here's my latest FO--Fetching from knitty.com. It was an easy, fun knit. Now I just need cold weather so I can wear them.

Hi all

Just popping in for a quick hello.
I'm punk, I rock, I'm a knitter and I'm happy to be here ;-))

But.. at this moment I'm very busy, I'll be at Archeon all weekend on a Viking re-enactment fair. No knitting for me, the vikings didn't knit, but i'll be nålebinding socks. Nålebinding is a ancestor of knitting. In english you say needlebinding.

So.. I'll be at work for a few more hours, go home, get my stuff together, hug my cats and tell them to be nice for the 2 friends that come feed them, give their med's and hug them twice a day and later this afternoon I''l be off for the weekend.

I also have a new job, from november first I will be working less hours a week, for almost the same amount of money. So more fiber-time for me ;-)) I will be popping in more often then too. So I'm here, popping in every now and than, but from november first the fun of more blogging can begin :D

Have a nice weekend!
Dagdag!

Monkey socks

Hi! I haven't posted in a while, I've been busy knitting away. I made the monkey socks from knitty cuz everyone else was. I really like the way they came out even though I didn't like knitting them. But the pattern looked so cool I had to finish.

For the first time in my life I had my beard trimmed by a Barber. Well since we were talking about new hair thing. I suppose that it only works for women.

Steph (aka Yarn Harlot)

I know it's been a while, but if you check out my fibre farm blog, "The Funky Lamb", you'll understand why. I've done a ton of shearing, washing, carding, dyeing, knitting etc. And, not just my own because I've been helping on other farms too. As soon as school starts again in 2 wks., I promise to try & get caught up.

A couple of nights ago, we decided to take a break & go see Stephanie again down in Aurora. This would be about 1hr from where our knitting group gathers. She remembered me from last time (which was kind of cool; okay, I was seriously excited) & posed for a great pic with Lydia (my Blythe doll that I took to meet her). You can read about the whole story on my knitting blog, "The Creative Castle". She then took a pic of us for her blog in return which can be seen on her site, "Yarn Harlot".
Although not enough time to blog on the list here, I certainly try to check in & see what everyone is up to. I love what you've all been doing from knitting to crochet to hair colours, lol.

Talk to you all soon ^..^

More Fun Hair

Yeah, Kaity's post reminded me that I had some purple hair dye just waiting on me. So I finally got around to doing the bleaching and dyeing.

purple project 003

You can't see the back in this picture, so I'll show you what the back looked like before I dyed it.

haircut 2

Oh, and I have totally been knitting. Like my cute halter/boy short set from Knitting Lingerie Style. Some socks. A short-sleeved Eiffel, and a ton of baby booties. Go check out my blog to see what I've been up to!

Vampire Licious

Okay it isnt on knitting but kinda punk/goth in a way. This is my lil'man this morning at book week parade. He is Dracular.

Another great by my mum

I havent finished anything in AGES worth speaking about, so here is my mum's latest effort.

She says "I was going to do a Kaffe Fassett one but I had to sort of adapt it because I had a lot of oddments which weren't really suitable for the "official" version. I haven't decided what to call this particular design - probably NERVOUS BREAKDOWN would be a good title as that's what I nearly had when darning in all the thousands of loose ends."

I think its awesome!

Cabled Rangoli Hat

Love this hat.
Pattern: Cabled Rangoli Hat http://desiknitter.typepad.com/rangolihatpattern.pdf
Yarn: Berroco Ultra Alpaca, 1 skein
Needles: size 6/ 16″ circulars
** there are errors in the written pattern BUT if you follow the chart instead it it right on.
Also here is a TIP:
knit the Nupps ([p1, yo,p1,yo,p1]) very loosely and when you get to the Purl 5 together it will be a piece of cake.

Happy Knitting

Socks

I feel like I haven't posted in forever... I have been knitting though. Knitting and travelling. I made these two pair of socks while driving across the country. They are both free patterns from Knitty. The purple socks are the Monkey socks and the pinkish socks are Hedera socks. Both pairs were really fun to make!!!

Amugurimi Tampon!

i know this is crochet, but.......

It's an amugurimi tampon!
Whats more punk than that?

Pattern on blog, if you are crazy enough to be interested in creating this thing.

warm and fuzzy

We were having a workshop on how to turn the heel of socks today at Knitters guild and I armed myself with the magic 28's one complete and one ready to turn. Only 2 were wanting to do the workshop so I managed to complete the 2nd one and tomorrow they go to the Guardian Angel Programme to be distributed in Mongolia.

It has been bucketing dow with rain so it gives a good excuse to curl up with dvds and work on the shawl I have going. I hope to get more FO's done from a pile of UFO's. Some will really benefit by being done as they are 2nd socks that have been put aside due to orders that needed more attention.

Yay!

Hola! It is I, your Fearless leader, Kaity.

Back in the day, Like, more than I year ago, I think... I had a bright red streak in my brown hair, and I loved it. But, it faded out, and I kept dyeing it back. Then, I just had plain ol' boring Brown hair for a while, but yesterday:

I dyed a streak Blue! I freakin' love it, too.
Just thought I'd share. I'm not really knitting anything really punk right now, so I thought I'd share my hair with ya'll.

Bolero fun and such.

I've been busy with some knitting! Which, isn't a big surprise I guess.

Here's a picture of my ribbed lace bolero. I finished this in July, it's made with a really soft merino. This will be a bit more practical come the end of September, because the little thing is bloody warm!

And to the right...

This is the beginning of my Waist-Cincher Top from Knitting Lingerie Style. I'm hoping it works out fine, the girls I found on Ravelry making it (oh, I go as Zsanica there) were having issues with the armholes and bust area..

I've been paying close attention, but, I won't know until I start the V-neck.

Bday Scarf

Finally finished (after to many occupations) the scarf I made for my brother,
he love it, hope you like! ♥

My New Knitting Buddy!

Okay, I had to share a photo of my new knitting buddy. I simply could not help myself. Isn't he the cutest? Finnegan is an almost 12 week old, altered, Siameze-mix we adopted from a local animal shelter, yesterday. He's a wee ball of energy, spazoid, sweet kitten. He pounces on everything, somersaults off my couch and tries to help me knit by stealing the ball of yarn and running the opposite direction.

Now back to your regular knitting...I just had to share my new baby. The cute "baby" is currently digging dust bunnies out from beneath the refridgerator, behind me. Stinker!
I made this hat based on this, For my friend's birthday. I used the same yarn as before, Noro Kureyon. I always doodles curly q's s and wanted to incorporate it into something.
I don't really know what else to say.

back from vacation and some yarns

I'm just back from a vacation with my parents and now I have another week because my son is staying with my parents and I'm already back home. I already miss him, but it is great to have some time just for me.

And I had to try dying yarns with Kool Aid, I love how the colors turned out... if you like them too, you can find them in my new Etsy Shop

Knitting meet ups or groups in NJ

Does anyone know of a knitting night or something along those lines in Northern NJ. I've seen one on line.

Monster Mitts

There hasn't been much knitting here at the house of sunneshine. Too many things going on... Of course that makes it seem like the "on the needle" projects take forever. I had been dying for a monster hat from Insubordiknit - finally splurged and bought one. As I was knitting it, I realized that I wouldn't wear it. So I turned it into fingerless gloves that I love. And on chunky handspun, they took less then two hours total!
I haven't named the purple haired pirate yet, soon I'm sure...

Happy Knitting!!

Squatty

Kaity's bag was just so cute that I had to have one of my own. Two balls of Noro Kureyon and sore arms from hand felting got me this. I love it! More pics on the blog.
BTW, anybody else on Ravelry yet? I'm "twitchyknitter" over there and I want more friends!

Hi All - I have been Busy

I am looking to open an on line knitting shop. So I want to focus on some little known and

exclusive yarns that are not in you local yarn shop.

The first exciting yarn that I came across is Russell Crowe Brand Super Bulky Yarn.

This Yarn comes with Russell Crowe's personal promise that he will beat up anyone responsible for selling you a bad yarn. If any skein of his yarn has more than one end he will personally beat up the Factory Manager for you.

This promise also extends to other brands of yarn. He is right now hunting down the makers of Rowan Yarn because there have been more and more ends turning up in the skeins.

I hope you find this fine Merino as nice to knit with as I have.

Be safe out there and keep your stick on the ice.

Doorknob cozies!!!

I created this pattern a few months ago as a way to tag different houses around Cleveland.
I like making them with crazy eyelash yarn that I'd normally never ever use. It's a great way to use small bits of yarn, or the inevitable ball of fun fur that a non-knitter gave you for christmas.

a cozy my friend Rosa made.

a cozy of my own.

On size 8 dpn's, cast on 26 stitches and work in a 1x1 rib for about an inch or an inch and a half. this will be the "shaft" of the knob.

switch to size 6 dpn's, and work the next row in stockinette, increasing until there are ten stitches per needle. You should now have 30 stitches.
Knit 4, tbl around. You should now have 36 stiches total.
Knit
Knit 5, tbl around. You should have 42 stitches.
purl one row.
knit 5, k2tog around
knit
knit 4, k2tog around
knit
knit 3, k2tog around
knit 2, k2tog around
knit 1, k2tog around
thread all stitches onto the yarn, and pull tight to fasten off.
GO TAG!

I tagged a house near mine so i could observe the reactions. They people kept it on for about 2 weeks, until I switched the cozy to a crochet one in the middle of the night. That one was gone within 2 days. Further proof that knitting is far superior to crochet.

although crocheting rocks as well.

A Good Pattern To Share...

Hi All, My first post here. I must admit I haven't been doing much knitting other than socks lately - quick and portable - hard to beat that :). In my quest for sock patterns, I came across, and bought this one yesterday. It seemed a no-brainer to share it with this group and my "Pirate" knitter friends. The pattern is from Heartstrings.

I've been enjoying seeing the projects being knit here - there's a punk camo skirt a few posts below that is fantastic. Hopefully, I'll have something interesting knitted to share with you soon.

Been quiet here for a long time

I haven't posted anything here in a long time so I decided to share. Here’s a pic of the dream swatch headband I made a couple months back inspired by Twitchy Knitter's doing on the pattern originally written by Knit and Tonic. I've had this done, but haven't posted about it until now.

I needed to destash so I made this. It's made out of RH Lustersheen that was given to me (details at my blog) on size 4 straights. Knitting this up, the stitch pattern seemed annoying, but interesting to me. Other knitters say that it was a fun and quick knit. I guess the experience may vary between knitters.

Baby Surprise Jacket

My sister, my mom, and I finished our EZ Baby Surprise Jackets.

Mom's is on the left, my sister's is on the right, and mine is in the middle. I love my mom's and I think they did awesome jobs. I have more pics on my blog if anyone wants a closer look.

Pretty in Punk Camo Miniskirt

I knit this up from the miniskirt pattern in the Pretty in Punk book. It's knit in Bernat Rose Camouflage and Feza Lazer yarn. I really like this book. The patterns are simple, but very stylish. Think Vivienne Westwood crossed with Lion Brand yarn. LOL.

New Hat!!

When I saw this hat, I gasped. I HAD TO MAKE IT!!!!
I ran out THAT day to buy the noro, which and since become my new favorite yarn. At first I was skeptical, because whilst casting on, the yarn fell apart. I had to start casting on 96 stitches AGAIN!!! After that, I decided I loved it again, even after I found this weird, black chunk of who knows what tangled up with the yarn.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The pattern was pretty straightforward and easy to do once I got into the rhythm. My camera is being fixed, so all i have to go by is the cell phone picture. The top is kind of pointy, but I'm thinking about adding a pom pom to mask it.

I went out and bought a new ball today to design my own. I LOVE THIS YARN!

Stripy Hat

Well, this is my first post. I've been a crocheter for as long as I can remember, and just switched to knitting about a month ago. I've had tons of time on my hands due to breaking my leg 3 months ago, and have done nothing but sit in front of the computer and craft the whole time.

Anywho, this is really my second finished knit project. The first one was a willy warmer for a friend of mine. I have a picture of it on my blog.. This is a cute stripy had I made this week. I kind of forgot to switch colors up near the top, so it's got a big purple circle at the top, but it'll be perfect for cooler days. I think I'll make my boyfriend one next, in black and red.

Well, hopefully I'll have some more finished projects to post someday soon...

Baby chic

This little sweater has been quite the struggle. Debbie Bliss Cashmerino from my stash...two balls of the dark and one of the light, in a discontinued color mind you. I was determined to use it for this sweater. I knit the body twice, reversing the colors the second time. And when it came down to it, I just didn't have enough to finish the lace trim on the sleeves (it should match the body lace) so I made up my own.

It is from Natural Knits for Babies and Moms. I'm becoming quite enamored of this yarn. Too bad it costs so much. The buttons are from my collection. I hope my friend and her little one likes it. Its a pattern I would definitely do again. Actually I'm planning on buying the book. So many cute things in there, and with just a color change quite gothy/punk too.

shake your booties....

it's been such a very long time since i've posted... and while this most recent fo is not exactly whatcha call punk rock... it DID start out that way (and if i knit it black/white it still coulda been) i started a pattern for Converse Booties from ShadKitty's rockin Blog which subsequently morphed into these.... (i'm kinda proud of em i think)

specs are on my blog if anyone's interested (and if you are i'll be THRILLED but no pressure). it's my first attempt at writing down what i did in a pattern format and they were VERY simple... cause lets face it, i'm not exactly into the complicated at the moment (or ever) heh

rock on

Knitting on the News

Wow. I've been MIA from this blog for a while. We did a massive cross-country move from Massachusetts to the Portland, Oregon area which took a month and a half so we've only been experiencing the internet through my phone until recently.

I did want to share some fun knitterly news, though. Last week, IKEA opened a store in Portland and Hubby and I camped out for 2 days beforehand to score some free furniture and such. We brought a massive air mattress with us and the news found that rather amusing (I'm not sure why) so Joe and I were on the news quite a bit and in one two different segments, I was caught knitting on camera.

If you check out my blog, you can find links to see a fellow punk knitter knitting on the news.

Happy summer knitting, all!

-Carissa
