Market Bag

This is a market bag that is quick and easy to make. I don't think the colors show up well -- I did it in cotton and it is gold, purple and green. I got the pattern from Sunne...

Hello

Hey, new member here :D

Im Vinny, I'm in Plymouth, England, and I chose Puffy Ami Yumi because they're cute and fun. I'm not knitting anything pink or punk at the moment, cos Im right in the middle of a baby jumper with ducks on.... but it is a really cool bright orange! However I do have pink hair at the moment so I reckon that qualifies.. heres a pic of me with my daughter.

Good to be here, anyway :D

Noro Tubu Beanie for Jonesy

I made this for Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols and he told me it made him look like a hippie, so I took it back and made him a solid black one in Rowan Big Wool. He's such a PUNK.

Baby Raglan Sweater

I finished up the cutest baby raglan sweater earlier this week, if I do say so myself! Here it is as a work-in-progress being modeled by Animal, perhaps arguably the most punk of all the muppets!

Come by the blog for all the knitty-gritty details.

Happy Friday everyone!

Just Stopping by to Say Hello

It has been a while since I checked in. This is me yesterday wearing the Rainbow Connection Hat at the wednesday group that I attend. I am working on aPrayer Shawl for clowns. It is in a homespun style super bulky acrylic.

I have been working on writting a book for our Charity Knitting Group. It is slow going and taking more time than it should.

Just wanted to say Hello.

Purple Punk Wheel

So, I finished my wheel and thought I'd introduce her to the PRK peeps.

May I present, the Lady Amalthea!

Wheel action

She is a Kromski Symphony that I stained purple with some Minwax stain in Cherry Blossom. Check out my blog for more.

punk barbie dress

Help! (Does it seem like I have a lot of posts starting with that word lately?) I was just contacted by the fashion editor of the Rocky Mountain News to create a knitted spring outfit for a barbie doll. Of course, I want to do something punk and fab. Here are my two limitations, I don't even know where to find barbie knitting patterns (but I know they are out there) and my outfit has to be finished in 7 days. It is a barbie, so at least the size of the outfits is small and should be a quick knit. If anyone has any pattern leads, please let me know (if it was really cool, I would even pay for a pattern...)
Thanks!

Charmed Knits Q

Has anyone bought the Charmed Knits: Projects for Fans of Harry Potter? Any reviews out there?

Quick Question out of Left Feild

Has anyone seen a punch carD for the Jolly roger for a Brother knitting machine.

I know I should probably get some blank ones and just make my own. Still thought I would ask.

Pink Cozy For The Tunes

I have been knitting like mad, lately. Most of these are larger projects. I needed a quickie and functional project. So, I made a new MP3 player cozy for my pink gadget. It was a simple design and I sort of made it up as I went. I cast on 25 sts. The cozy is knit entirely in garter and pink stripes. (two row stripes) Once I got the length I wanted. (I folded it over to sew together.) I then began decreasing two stitches every row, continuing the stripes, until I had one stitch left. I took a crochet hook and made a small chain. Then, you sew in the ends and add a button. Voila' instant cozy. I made it a bit larger, to allow room for the ear phones. The yarn is leftover LB Wool Ease and I used two # 4 dpn's. The colors are Blush (lt. pink) and Dark Rose Heather (dk. pink) That's it. I like this cozy a lot...it matches my player.
And that's about it for today. I hope that everyone is well...TAKE CARE and Happy Knitting!

First "big" project

Carolyn is finally in one piece! Perfect timing too, the snowy cold days left this past weekend, so I've been wearing this cardigan outside non-stop.

I must admit, I just want to make more sweaters and shirts, but I really have my eye on making an Intolerable Cruelty skirt next, possibly in black, or a deep burgundy/red...

So fun!

Finished up the Dream Swatch Wrap today with some leftover Koigu. I think the green yarn goes very nicely with the purple-y hair.

Hi!

Hey everyone!

Recently started knitting, and found this group, now a member.
Working on a peice of wool now, but I don't have a digital camera, hoping to get one this month, once I do I will post pics of my work.

See ya!

Here is my latest FO done in under an hour last night. It is the Skully Dish Cloth from our very own Carissa. Thanks for the pattern, lady.
I'm off... ~DAWN

Hey again

I don't know if any of you remember me, but I used to be on the "punk rock knit girls" blog aswell. I've been away from blogging land for a bit, but I've been catching up on all the blogs I used to read and I've been updating my blog again regularly like a good girl =P so yeah I'm back. I've recently knitted my first lacy project... it was tiny but it was fun hehe. You can see it on my blog if you're interested =) For those of you who don't know me.. My name is Petra, I'm 22 and I live in South Yorkshire in the UK. I'm originally from The Netherlands, but I moved here alittle over 2 years ago to live with my lush fiance David =D I don't have a job atm, but I am doing some volunteering work up at the castle near us as a conservationist it's alot of fun! My mom taught me how to knit a few years ago, but I kinda lost interest at that time and I didn't pick it back up until last year and that's when I seriously started to learn more techniques and knitted other things then just scarves lol I also taught myself how to crochet at about the same time as I started to knit again and I'm loving that aswell. I haven't crocheted a garment as of yet, but I will get there =)
Asides from that I also love to draw and I'm learning how to paint (oil, watercolour), but atm I don't have much space to paint so that's been put on hold for a bit unfortunatly.
Anywho, here is my last knitted project.. I tried to design my own wristband and I think it turned out ok. As you can see it still looks a mess lol but I'm going to steam block it and obviously weave in the ends =)

♥ Petra

Melbourne maddness

What happens when work sends you to another state in their capital city to our clients site for 3 weeks. You get put into a 1 bedroom apartment all on your own each night after work and weekends in a strange place where you have very little idea how to get around. Firstly make sure your knitting is packed in the suitcase as suitable entertainment for yourself and that you buy plenty of good chocolate and biscuits to have tea or hot chocolate with as you sit and knit thing that could be seen as insane.

I knitted my Stormy Seas socks that I had hand dyed for me. The are just a basic sock pattern and helped fill in the mornings before leaving for work.

By night using Soysilk Infinity and 2mm needles I knitted the Estonian Garden Lace scarf and tweaked it with more of the lily of the valley repeats as I loved them so much. It got a special display place this weekend at our SnB exhibition.

More about my other adventures in the strange city are on my blog I got both of these finished and then came home for easter with a good chunk of my ISE 4 scarf done. But now it has been knitted then occasionally it gets muddled with the grey matter and needs a slight frogging exercise. So it is also time for me to try and get things made for an up coming sale in a few weeks time.

Bombshell Top

Ok, I finally have a finished knit to share. It's the Bombshell Top from Big Girl Knits (pg. 92). You can read all of the details on my regular blog entry about it. There is another photo of the top too, on me.

Happy KNITTING and have a wonderful weekend.

Help...

Its a long story, but in a trade, I have ended up with two huge cones of lace weight yarn. The question is - this yarn in 100% arcylic - I have never knit with acrylic before, especially not lace. Does anyone have any suggestions, helpful hints, will it knit just the same as my wool or alpaca? Will it wear as well? The colors are beautiful and the yarn I traded for it I will never use, so it was worth the gamble... Anyone, suggestions, help??

Finally able to post

I have been so busy. Of course I've made the odd (& rare of late) comment & read the entries faithfully, but time just hasn't allowed for much at the moment. I belong to 5 guilds & have been busy with them all. Time to cut back you say? Anyway, I've really enjoyed everyone's posts & pictures. Here's a few of my own to catch you all up.

The hat was modified from a pattern in The Knitter's Bible: knitted accessories book by Claire Crompton. I made it slightly larger with an inserted head band. The scarf is from Modular knits by Iris Schreier; zigzag scarf. Full details on the projects & books are on my blog (Mar.22 entry).

Picture of Samantha sporting her hat which she refuses to take off. Can be worn many different ways depending on her mood, but all make her look equally saucy. Only thing she needed in this pic was some numbers; nice mug shot Sam, lol.

Not my style, but we take turns running programming at the local Machine Knitter's Guild. Unfortunately, I'm the youngest (37) & funny enough, there aren't any 60 yr old (avg age, but we have some 80) punk rockers in the membership, lol. However, they all find me interesting & entertaining (I think they mean scarily eccentric) & seem to accept me for who I am; nice change. This was called a butterfly tuck pattern done in sports weight on the LK150 (not sure if anyone does machine knitting here).

Luv you guys :O)

This post is a little late...

but I promised a photo of mr.sunneshine in the bunny hat! There are a bunch of reasons that this didn't get posted earlier, but none of them really matter. This was our easter, freezing, snowing, silly, and very relaxing!! And thanks to mr.sunneshine for being a really good sport!

The Dragons Are Coming

I do not have any new knitting to show right now, so I will share the dragon's hair that I got in the mail yesterday from Lady Guenhwyvar. When I picked it up from the post office I told the dude it was dragon's hair. He almost turned white. Then I explained that it is roving. I should of told him that this chick raises dragons like most people raise sheep and she sheers them in the spring. LOL That would have been funny.

I am going to ply the dragon's hair with it's respected wing roving. That should ad some really nice depth to the yarn. I cannot wait.

Oh yeah, I am a fiber junkie. I spin, dye, knit, crochet, felt, and lust over soft fibery thing.

I just finished up my 4th Snow Devil Hat. I should be able to complete that pattern in my sleep soon. I'm currently knitting Sahara in Quechua (Rich Olive). Loving that yarn. It's thinner than I thought it would be, but it feels great.

Psssstttt....anyone here?

Sorry for my quietness, lately. It's spring and with it...a lot of things to do. I have been knitting, sewing and reading a huge novel for a book/knitting club. I don't have any finished knitting project photos to share just yet, but soon. Pinky swear...

So, how is everyone? Whatcha knitting?

New here

Hi! I'm Kelly, I just joined after hanging around for about a month or so. Since everyone here seemed to be making Fetching I had to give it a try too. I've only finished one so far. I'm using Patons Classic Merino in Natural. Maybe I'll work on the second one tonight.

Fetching With Fingers

Anyone else love the Fetching Mitts? I have made one pair and plan to make more, eventually. Well, there is now a post on Craftster that has a tutorial on adding fingers to the pattern. I figured this could be useful to someone on here...LOL! Have at it. Happy Knitting!

Avalon Vest Progress

I have no finished knits to share. I am in the middle of knitting a vest, actually. This is my progress, so far, on the back piece. I measured it just a few minutes ago and I have gained 4 inches since this mornings snapshot. The vest is approximately 16 inches long already. It's fast moving and I love the cables.

The vest is actually called the "Textured Vest" from Fall 2005 Vogue Knitting. I am calling it the Avalon Vest since it's for a group I belong to..."Knitters Of Avalon." Anyways, the best I could share today is progress, not a finished knit. I am knitting as fast as I can...LOL!
So, how is everyone else doing these days?

The Marley Begins

We have begun making the icord for The Marley Scarf. We expect it to take three to four months to knit 200 skeins into icord {We are so using a bunch of machines}.
The Clown Brigade and I are looking to plan an even where we can knit the icord over a large balcony or something like that. Maybe the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland or something like that. I will keep you posted about that if you are near by.
When we get all of the icord knit we are then going to take a 24 hours period and knit The Marley at one time. This have never been done before and it should be interesting. I am even considering doing a Jerry Lewis and see if I can stay up for the entire The Marley is being made and knit on him most of the time.
By the way after The Judy and now The Marley I can say with out hesitation that too much acrylic yarn does have a detrimental effect on brain function. Reggae may not be punk rock, still I don't care who you are. A hundred feet of scarf in one day is cool.
I also wanted to thank everyone for the kind comments about the Yarn Harlot thing. Like everything on the Internet you don't get the whole story. I was just the strangest person in the room when a famous person with a camera walked in. I would not even attempt such a thing if it were not for my clowns, the gracious support of the local knitting community and the Internet knitting community. I am not shifting the blame to you. I take full responsibility for the crimes against knitting and nature that I am committing with this project.
Be safe out there and keep your stick on the ice.

I finished off my version of Grumperina's Odessa hat in hot pink. I quite like hot pink.

Well, I did make a few mistakes right as I was starting the beaded patterning, which is why knitting when very tired isn't such a good idea. They're not really noticeable mistakes though, thankfully.

Over all, I'm pleased, and it's very comfy to wear around.

Easter bunnies...

Thanks to O'Kitten for posting this free pattern on her blog - these are my bunny hats for Easter.
One is for my granbaby and one is for mr.sunneshine or myself when we are delivering our baskets this year. Had a couple issues, and am stopping by Michaels for some fine gauge wire to help keep the ears up. When I have modeled photos I will post them on my blog... and there will be details about the knitting mis-adventures there too (later)...

Happy Easter!!
Happy Knitting!!

Baby Bunny Hat!

This is the baby bunny hat (as modeled by Ja-Zeppe the frog) that I knit for my nephew for his first Easter. Details on the blog.

Zeeppo on Yarn Harlot

Did anyone else see this??? Our very own Zeeppo and his marley scarf were featured on one of the Yarn Harlot's recent blog posts.
