Skull Fingerless Gloves

Hi everyone! I'm new here and I thought I'd put up a picture of the fingerless gloves that I knitted my oldest daughter for Christmas. I adapted about three different patterns and improvised the skulls and accent rows. This was my first experience using dpns so I was rather happy they came out as well as they did. I hope my daughter enjoys wearing these as much as I enjoyed making them for her.

My First Sweater!

seamless raglan FO

SQUEEEE!!!!! I'm so proud of the new addition to my wardrobe <3333

Pattern Particulars

Pattern Source: Seamless Raglan from Knitting Without Tears by Elizabeth Zimmermann

Needles: Clover Takumi 32" Circulars US sz. 8, Addi Natura 16" circulars US sz. 8

Materials: 5 skeins of Malabrigo Worsted Merino in Lettuce (from Misocrafty's de-stash) and one in Glazed Carrot (from Webs).

Time: I didn't actually time this project but I did start it in June.

Loved: the ease of the pattern and the perfect fit. Because EZ pretty much forces you to pay attention to the gauge, you shouldn't expect anything less.

Hated: nothing. I want to knit like, 300 sweaters now.

More Charty Goodness

Oh look, more charty goodness! Ever since I completed the Gaz chart I have had many-a-requests for Zim and Gir. I finally got around to creating a rather small chart of Zim, everyone's favorite Irken alien. I actually made this chart to be placed on a knitted hat, for my teenaged daughter. We'll see how it turns out.

I had issues with this chart. Zim's eyes are rounder than I could get them on a chart. Hey, at least it looks like Zim. LOL! I have no current plans to convert this one to a digital image, just yet. You can see the chart pretty clearly to use, as it is. I may change my mind, later.

Don't know about Invader Zim? You can read all about it, here. I must get the DVDs.

My Next Knitting Chart...

Guess Who?

I had planned to draw/sketch, this morning. So, rather than drawing this morning...Well, this is considered drawing, right? I used a pencil and knitting graph paper to create...a chart. This chart was made upon request. A fellow knit-blogger said she'd like ______ or David Bowie as a knitting chart. So, I broke out my pencil and got to work...It was a lot of fun.

This is a preliminary pencil sketch. It will take me a few days to transfer it to a digital image. I hand paint my charts in PSP 8 and it takes a while to do. So, what do you think? Not bad, I say.

So, any guesses on who this is?

NOPE, it's not Edward Scissorhands! LOL!

An introduction

Hello Everyone. I am Heidi who loves Wendy O. Williams and the Plasmatics and I thought I'd introduce myself being as I am a new kid on the block.

I am currently at work on the Skull Shrug whose pattern is posted in your links. Though I've added some stripes. I love it and can't wait to be done. I've seamed one of the sleeves already as I knit so I could try it on. The photo included is the progress of where I was on Saturday the day I started it. I am really excited to see all your wonderful creations and get to know everyone better.

Hey again

I don't know if any of you remember me, but I used to be on the "punk rock knit girls" blog aswell. I've been away from blogging land for a bit, but I've been catching up on all the blogs I used to read and I've been updating my blog again regularly like a good girl =P so yeah I'm back. I've recently knitted my first lacy project... it was tiny but it was fun hehe. You can see it on my blog if you're interested =) For those of you who don't know me.. My name is Petra, I'm 22 and I live in South Yorkshire in the UK. I'm originally from The Netherlands, but I moved here alittle over 2 years ago to live with my lush fiance David =D I don't have a job atm, but I am doing some volunteering work up at the castle near us as a conservationist it's alot of fun! My mom taught me how to knit a few years ago, but I kinda lost interest at that time and I didn't pick it back up until last year and that's when I seriously started to learn more techniques and knitted other things then just scarves lol I also taught myself how to crochet at about the same time as I started to knit again and I'm loving that aswell. I haven't crocheted a garment as of yet, but I will get there =)
Asides from that I also love to draw and I'm learning how to paint (oil, watercolour), but atm I don't have much space to paint so that's been put on hold for a bit unfortunatly.
Anywho, here is my last knitted project.. I tried to design my own wristband and I think it turned out ok. As you can see it still looks a mess lol but I'm going to steam block it and obviously weave in the ends =)

♥ Petra

The Fake Isle Hat

I have completed my Fake Isle Hat in two days. I am feeling rather pleased with it. I am not a huge fan of making complicated color knitting. It's tedious for me. It's nice to know that I can make a fair isle hat, at least. I made this hat to challenge myself a little.

Specs on the hat:
The yarns used are Lionbrand Wool Ease in fisherman (off-white) and one skein of Noro Kureyon in the # 153 colorway. The original pattern used black for the CC color. I decided to use the off-white, mainly to be different. I like it. The effect is very nice. Oh yes, I used US # 6 circular and double pointed needles to make the hat, as the pattern called for.

I LOVE this hat...

Project Spectrum Sweater

I belong to Project Spectrum V.2. February & March are Blue, Gray and White months. So, I decided that I would make a sweater for the knit-along out of those colors and stash-bust at the same time. Here is the finished sweater, on me. I finally finished one of the LARGE projects that I have been working on for over a month. WOO HOO!

Well, there really is no pattern for this sweater. I used the calculations from The Knitter's Handy Book Of Sweater Patterns. I made the 46" chest measurement/size. (I am a 44" chest) The yarn I used was all leftovers from other projects. YAY on stashbusting! The lighter blue is LB Wool Ease in Blue Heather; 4 skeins. The darker blue is LB Wool Ease in Navy; 1 skein. The white/blue mix yarn is actually leftover Moda Dea Sassy Stripes in the color, Stormy. I used # 8 circular and Dpn's, throughout. The sweater is knitted from the bottom up with minimal finishing. I sewed the underarm holes and the loose strings. That's about it.

There is another picture of the sweater laying flat on my bed over at my personal blog. Okay, gotta run. Happy Knitting and have a great weekend, everyone!

Pink Socks

I must be on a finishing roll this week. I have finally finished the pink socks that have been sitting in my unfinished knits basket for close to a month. I have a bad habit of not making the second item. Socks are the worst. I did it though. I am quite happy with them. I love the colors too.
Have a great weekend...I am watching a Back To The Future trilogy marathon on TV. It makes for good knitting time. Toodles.

Fetching, A Pair

I have finished my pair of Fetching gloves. Two days, two gloves. These are very quick to knit and I learned a new thumb technique to boot. I am rather pleased with these and I adore the color. Did I mention the Rowan Wool Cotton is so soft and comfortable?

I love these and recommend them to everyone. It's funny, because I had passed these up when they came out at Knitty. I did not originally like them. I am so happy I was persuaded to make a pair. I love them.

HAPPY WEEKEND, everyone!

IHS Progress

Remember my entry a few days ago about knitting the IHS with Patons SWS yarn? (SWS = Soy Wool Stripes)

Here is the progress I have made on the Irish Hiking Scarf. I am loving the yarn, so far. It's so pretty. The colorway is "Natural Earth."

The IHS is one of my favorite scarves to knit. This is my second round on the pattern.

I have finished my first skein of SWS on the scarf. I measured it. One skein of SWS yarn, 110 yards, makes 18" worth of the IHS scarf. I have 4 skeins of the yarn...it should be plenty long enough, approximately 72 inches. I just wanted to share that in case anyone else decides to use Patons SWS for the IHS scarf.

Another thing, I did not connect the new skein of yarn in the exact color pattern. The striping follows a sequence, I noticed. If you are a picky person that like things in order...you will have to find the sequence order and connect from there. Me? I don't care. I am all about wacky things in my knitting. You can see where I connected the wrong color at the top. You see the reddish segment? It should be followed by a segment of green, as below it. Instead...the continuation is blue. Meh, I don't care. I just thought I would warn anyone...who uses the SWS. The skeins are a bit random in what colors they begin. It's never the same color. That's all.

Next Up On The Knit List

I think I am sweatered out, at the moment. I just finished a large sweater project and need a break.

Next up on my knit list is the Irish Hiking Scarf in the pictured yarn that I purchased today. The yarn is Patons SWS. It's gorgeous yarn and it has a really nice feel to it. It's 70% wool and 30% soy. The color I chose was # 70013, Natural Earth. I was going to order it online, but I found it $2.00 cheaper at my local Michael's. Woo Hoo! I think 4 skeins will be enough to make the scarf.

Happy Weekend and Happy Knitting!

Soft Boucle' Sweater

I have finished the Soft Boucle' Sweater. I have only been working on it for a month, or so. I was being very slow. The sweater also fits me comfortabley. It's loose, long and soft. I would say it fits more like a tunic would. I like it and will wear it often, I am sure.

FINALLY, a comfortable sweater that I will actually wear. I am so picky these days. The only problem...it's boucle' and fluffy. I am a plus-sized woman and "fluffy" is not a good thing. Do I care? Nahhhh...I like wearing it.

Specs on the sweater: Well, I did not use a set pattern for this sweater. I loosely based the back and front pieces on the Skully Sweater from the original Stitch N' Bitch book. After that, I sort of did my own thing. I knitted the sleeves on circular needles. I also shortened the sleeves by a lot. I have short arms, what can I say? It's a simple design, really. Drop shoulder, no decreases on sleeves and none on the body, either. Garter stitch trimmings too. Basic as one can get.

I used # 10 needles, both straight and circular. The yarn is Bernat Soft Boucle' in the # 22935 Mauve Shades color. I used exactly 4 skeins with not much to spare. That's about it. Easy peasey and comfortable.

Rinosaur that started out as Norberta

I just finished the Norberta pattern from knitty. Instead of a dragon I made it a dinosaur instead. It is for my nephew since my niece got a teddy bear from me.
It doesn't look just like Norberta that's why his name is Rinosaur (that's how my nephew says dinosaur)
Here's a pic for ya'll!
What do you think?

Slytherin Bookscarf

I started and finished this little "book-scarf" this morning. I was having knitting (and finishing) withdrawls, and this was a very, very quick project. I think it took me roughly three hours, plus another half-hour of so doing the fringe (which was annoying.) It's a little thick because I had to improvise with the yarn, but it works. :D

Hope you like it! :D

Overdue Pictures

LuckyKnuckyI've been bugging my mom and brother to get a picture of these for ages!! Et, Voila! One of four pairs of Knucks that I made as Christmas presents. Actually, my brother got these for his birthday. lol They say ALL♠ ACES, and he says they are his lucky gloves. :) Clicky on the pic to see a bigger/better view.
