Congrats to your aunt. . . I have never heard of the sweater-curse but tend to agree with one of the antidotes, "wait until you are married before investing in the yarn and time". They may want to stranagle you with the sweater, but breaking up is more of a hassle.

Yes, I heard about this curse when I was a teenager. In fact, just the other day I saw a new knit book in Chapters titled "Never Knit your man a sweater (unless you've got the ring)" by Judith Durant. LOL. You can read about it here: http://www.amazon.ca/Never-Knit-Sweater-Unless-Youve/dp/1580176461

Yup, I have heard of the curse. Not that I really believe or follow it, personally. I am knitting a sweater for my husband right now. But he is directly involved in style, color of yarn, etc. Besides I am married...LOL!

30 cousins!! So cool...
Uh, yeah, the sweater curse, I know three or four girls who have incurred its wrath, thankfully, I never did, now I am married and slowly creeping up to sweater-making with hats, gloves and scarves. Did get a good laugh out of the link, thanks!!

Wow, that's a lot of cousins! I have a lot of cousins, including second and third cousins, but never took the time to count all of them.

I've heard of the sweater curse from knitty. This sounds terrible, but one time my boyfriend and I got into a huge fight and I thought about trying to knit a sweater for him so we can break up. Then I thought that idea was too evil, so I didn't do it. Good thing we patched things up or else the sweater would've banished him out of my life! LOL! Oh, me and my evil thoughts.

I recently heard about the sweater curse from Sassy. I later read about it in The Yarn Girls' Guide to Simple Knits. I've only made sweaters for my 6mo nephew and my husband....so I think I'm okay!
