Thought I'd share what I've been doing. I've been working on a magic square pattern. It is a bit fiddly but I am enjoying it. Right now it is about 50cm length and 1mtr width.
My 12yr old son and I also do Karate. We are on our white belt with yellow tip. We got our new dojos (outfit) today and were really hyped.

Congrats on the belt! The Magic square looks cool and time consuming. I am making something similar with samples that i receive.
the blanket is tres cute. i'm making something similar, though i'm attaching it together as a rectangle, with all the seams done in black. fun and easy pattern, and really satisfying in the end!
