Why my Sister Rocks

A Berroco Pattern. I'm pretty sure the link's on her blog. I got the yarn too, in a very Birthday Massacre purple and black colorway, and was just going to make a fuzzy scarf, but she was the one that dug up this great pattern. He's so squishy and has a little belly ... he's so cuddly.

Threadbangers?

Has anyone ever heard of the site Threadbangers? It seems to be a DIY (rock oriented?) site with a forum, blog, and series of instructional online videos.
Here are some of the things I liked...
Dimebag Darrell stencil

Too bright for me, but so cute - made from those rainbow bed sheets that were so popular in the early 80s

Skeleton Bag

Lots of great ideas on there, even if there's not enough fiber arts.

First Sock Ever

It's really simple, but I really couldn't see myself doing it. My mother helped me the whole time, and I can't believe I did it...now for the other one.

How Punk is This

I am away this weekend on a Christmas in July Knitting Retreat hosted by my LYS. So I am off to the Local Scout camp only about 20 mins away to look like a total bogan and sit knit and relax. Listen to my ipod loudly and enjoy a few delicacies that are all home cooked to keep us all going.

Ill have a full report on my Blog when I get home on Sunday night.

Knitting up a storm

Over the past few weeks I've been knitting up a storm.
I am knitting for friends, my kids, myself and for charity. Plus started a quilt for stepson #2.

Here is a pic of Fetching I made for myself.
I LOVE them.

Take a look at my blog to see other items I've made recently.

Latvian mitterns

I saw these mittens in the last issue of Vogue Knitting and really wanted to try to make them, even though I was a bit intimidated. I learned several new techniques and found out it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.

Slave to the Grind.......

I am still wading through the yarn to make stock for Country Treasures in Crookwell. This week so far I have finished a 3 month Cardigan and beanie set and a new born crochet Jacket. Not to bad when I work 40 hours a week in a regular job.

The 3mth Cardigan in 8 ply Superfine Mudgee wool in Rose.

The matching hat to go with the cardigan.

The little Motif Jacket in 3 ply superfine supersoft baby wool in mint.

I am in a Skid Row mode as I heard them in the car tonight driving home and thought 'Slave to the Grind' was a good one with just 130 balls of yarn to go for stock to be made with.

This is a 8ply ( worsted) cardigan and hat in size 2 before it got its buttons.

A premmie cardigan in baby yarn and below a newborn size.

Finally a Size 1 jumper that I just finished today.

Knitting my long hat in a Militaristic Clown Uniform

I was out and about in Homestead Pa working on my latest clown hat.

It is made from Red Heart and in this picture it is tuck up inside itself. The item looks like a fairly average clown hat. It pulls out to be around fifteen feet long. This is funny when on stage with a lot of clowns.

There is a picture of the thing sstreatched out bellow. I have more pictures from my practice on my blog.

Funk Rock / Block or Froggg

This is the rest (53 gr) from the sockproject with Socks that rock, some days ago. And the pattern Executive Funk by Marnie MacLean.

Can´t make up my mind. Will I use those? Would you? When? Looks nice on others, feels clumsy on me...or...? Just to get used? To block or to frogggg...

Socks That Rock Over Cable

Socks that Rocks lightweight from Blue Moon Fiberarts. Färg; Corbie. 100 &% superwash merino.
And the pattern: Yarn Over Cable, from the book Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch.

Yepp, this is my first completed pair of toe-up and I love them! And If I keep them as "bedsocks" I will have some yarn left..
…exactly 53 gram left after the socks done, will it be enough for a pair of
Marnie Maclean - Lace Wristlets? :0)

My Southwestern knitting

I have been homesick for the Southwest ( I moved to the East coast several years ago) so I refinished some furniture and recovered a pillow making my home look a bit more Southwestern. I did modular knitting for the pillow using scrap yarn. A fun way to use up some of your leftovers...

Lets go back in time to 1942

Take a step back to 1942 when you would be on rations in Australia but needing to knit your bit for the guys on the Kokoda Track or thru the many other conflicts about. I have found one of those books that had the saving patterns and tips of the day and took to knitting the spiral socks from it so far and love the way it goes and the feel to the whole idea of re creating these patterns that were such a staple.
I am alive and have been rather busy with exhibitons and conventons but time to return to normal and being more active again.

I think I didn't show you those yet...

My Buccaneers Booty Socks have been done for a while now, I just did not find the time to post them here yet.

I dyed the red myself and the black are overdyed leftovers - not really solid black now, but I like it.

What I did not like about those socks was the fair isle part, it is nothing I enjoy. I really like the results, but the process is making me to go insane.

And this adorable little monster has been made for my son as part of a Crochet-A-Long on Ravelry. We had a basic receipe for those little guys and I decided to add fun fur as crazy hair and mismatched buttons for the eyes.

Otherwise, I kept it simple because it is supposed to be a toy for a 3 year old - I don't want to risk any choking or other injuries.

Finally the bucaneers are done!

I don't post often - I have turned into more of a punk lurker... sorry!

However, I finished my bucaneer booty socks over the weekend! I used the last of my naturespun from my mittens. It worked out to almost the exact right amount!! I made them a little big, hoping that they will felt a little when I wear them, like a fair isle mitten.

Thanks for the inspiration!
And Happy KNitting!
