WBBSJ!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot to show show you guys this!!!! The Baby Surprise Jacket: Another Elizabeth Zimmermann Masterpiece!!! All the knitting specs are on my blog.
The tiny baby brooch is made from quilting yo-yo (from a how-to I found in an old photocopied zine) and the center is a fabric covered button. I just learned how to make them and I'm kind of obsessed.

I really really want to make the Adult Surprise Jacket, but I've got to figure out how to skinny up those arm first.

Cuteness is cool, right?

I promise I did listen to some punk while knitting this. I had to turn off the TV and use music instead so I could pay attention to the pattern. A few mistakes can only be caught if you stare intently at the sweater. Hopefully nobody will.

Pattern : Elizabeth Zimmermann's February Baby Sweater, Knitters Almanac

Yarn: Elann Peruvian Highland Silk in Celadon (more green then in the picture, almost exactly like Silver Sage by Restoration Hardware

Needles: Knitpicks options, size 6, used as straights, which was great, because the cables gave a lot of flexibility.

Baby gifts to fly out tomorrow

Baby gifts going off to Indiana tomorrow. My penpal of 5 yrs. just had her 1st grandchild (little boy in case ya couldn't tell, lol). Hat was done on the "Knifty Knitter" loom, the (crocheted) bunny wash cloth was a freebee from Lionbrand and the booties were from my friend's book (to which I can't remember at the moment, but will find out if anyone needs to know.)

I'm busy working on more prezzies until my hubby gets home off late shift at 1:30am. Happy knitting.

Baby Knits, So Far

I spent an entire day with no cable tv and no internet. The storm knocked out my lifeline. LOL! I spent most of my day, yesterday, knitting. I did make a pale yellow pair of socks and a matching baby beanie for my husband's cousin who is having a baby boy in a few months. I have not finished all of the baby knits just yet, but it's a start.

I sometimes forget how tiny little babies are. I do have two daughters of my own, but they are now 15 and 10 and a 1/2. It's been ages since I have been around any newborns. I keep second guessing myself on the size of the hat and socks. "Will they fit?" Also, I almost wished that I had learned to knit while my girls were young. Baby knits are fun and quick to make. And then I thought...When my girls were young...who had time to even knit? HEH!

Ok, I am back, by the way. My internet is now working and all is well. Have a great evening, everyone.

My first sweater

Hey guys. My name is Carissa Marie and I'm new to the Punk Rock Knitters. I'm from the Seattle area but am currently working and going to school near Boston.



But enough about me....I wanted to share my latest knitting accomplishment: A chunky-knit sweater for my baby nephew modeled by Ja-Zeppe the frog:

It's just one of the projects on the long list of Christmas knitting I have to do. It was super quick and easy because it was with bulky yarn on size 15 needles so I was able to finish it in two sittings (probably about 6 hours total).

Scarf for my sister
Second sock of my first pair of socks ever
